Yesterday, on the Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Year of Our Lord 2010, our first radio station in the United States, Holy Virgin Mary Radio, WHVM 91.9 FM,  Owego, NY went On Air!  Deo Gratias!

It is only a small transmitter compared with what we have a license for, which ultimately will reach 47,000 people, but it will enable us to get on air without any further delays. The next phase will upgrade to full power (donations needed). Currently, we are only rebroadcasting the signal from EWTN, but soon we will complete our recording studio (donations needed) at Mt. St. Francis and we will be producing our own radio programs.

You can listen live here (coming soon).

This station compliments the many other stations that the FIs operate throughout the world, including Benin Africa (French), Brazil (Portuguese), Philippines (English and Tagalog) and Italy (Italian) as well as our other extensive internet, TV and printing apostolates. As St. Maximilian encouraged: use every licit mean available to spread devotion to Our Lady.

Homily #130527b ( 17min) Play – Fr. Elias preaches on the life of St Augustine of Canterbury, how he evangelized England and fostered devotion to Our Lady. He also preaches on the significance of Memorial Day and the importance of liberty and how it must be exercised within self-control. In this sense liberty is self-control not lack of control, self-rule not unruliness. He points out the interesting fact that the legal basis for our freedoms is our Constitution which is based on the Magna Carta of England which is based on the Catholic Faith introduced to England by St Augustine.

For the homily on Tuesday after Epiphany (Jan 07, 2020, Optional Memorial of Saint Raymond of Penyafort), Fr. Andre reflects on the meaning of tragedy. God allows His creatures—who He wants to save—to suffer in order that they may awaken from proud delusions of self-sufficiency to the realization of their complete dependence on Him for all that is good. Suffering is a way we can be brought to our senses, and Christ was the first to accept suffering that we might know the Truth.

The Life of S. of God Pamphilus of Magliano, Confessor, First Order (1824-1876) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Oct 31. Pamphilus theologian and professor in Rome. He went to the USA in North East, setting up St Bonaventure University and a new province of the order. He went to Rome and recorded what happened and what the order has done in ts history.

Reflection is on true heroism which forms great memories, the greater the suffering the greater will be the glory of their memory heaven.
Degrees of heroism, the greatest is to be silent in evil times, when one’s character is attacked.
Like Christ who could have defeated all his enemies and confounded his detractors, but instead set an example for his disciples.
