Whatever difficulties we may have to face, Our Lord is always with us, ready to restore us to peace and joy in this life, and the Resurrection in the life to come.

In the homily on the memorial of St. Veronica Giuliani (Poor Clare, Virgin – Jul 10), called “the greatest mystic in the history of the Church” (Pope Gregory XVI), Fr. Matthias explains how mortification and penance help us to keep order in life and grow in union with God.

St. Veronica Giuliani understood this truth: faith must always enlighten and guide reason, and reason must always rule and guide our senses. As long as we keep this order we’ll have peace: with God, with ourselves and with our neighbor. Thus mortified, we will grow in union with God, and we might even be graced by God with mystical gifts.

The eternity of hell is a reality revealed in public and private revelation and we need to live a life necessary to avoid it. God wants everyone to be saved and gives sufficient grace to be saved. However, not everyone responds to this grace. He references scripture, the Catechism of the Catholic Church and private revelation including from the children of Fatima and St. Veronica Giuliani.

This symposium took place at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe October 11-12, 2019, and had 8 talks, 2 QA sessions, and 2 Homilies. The theme was “Mary Coredemptrix: Why the Dogma?” and included a commemoration of the Marian legacy of Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner. It was sponsored by the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate in conjunction with Mark Miravalle and the International Marian Association (IMA)
