Homily #100918 ( 06min) Play – On this Feast of St. Joseph Cupertino Fr. Bonaventure preaches on the firm basis on which this saint flew to the heights of sanctity. He did not have much to offer society in regard to worldly, natural ability but he would never be discouraged but continue on in humility and this lowliness lead to his sanctity that was so extraordinarily manifested in the gift of physical flight. Father also exhorts us to reject the modern eugenics movement in the form of abortion and infanticide of babies that are not deemed perfectly formed, useful or convenient like St. Joseph.

Homily #150918l ( 13min) Play – Fr. Peter celebrates a votive Mass for St. Francis and explains the miracle of the Stigmata, the imprinting of the marks of the crucified in his flesh, the anniversary of which was celebrated yesterday by Franciscans. He relates this to Our Lady depicted in the San Damiano crucifix. He also refers to St. Joseph Cupertino whose feast it is today. He focuses on his many miraculous levitations, but also his obedience and his great wisdom despite his learning difficulties. Father exhorts us to be humble and lift up our hearts to the Lord during Mass.

To St. Joseph of Cupertino: Dear Holy One, purify my heart, transform it, and make it like yours, instill in me your fervor, your wisdom, and your faith. Show your kindness by helping me and I will strive to imitate your virtues. 

O God, who has appointed to draw all to your only-begotten Son, lifted upon the earth on the Cross, grant us that, by the merits and examples of your Seraphic Confessor Joseph, overcoming all earthly lusts, we may deserve to come to Him, who lives with you and reigns with you forever and ever. Amen.

PRAYER TO ST. JOSEPH OF CUPERTINO FOR ANY NEED

St. Joseph of Cupertino, patron saint of students, saint of joy, master of prayer, enchanted by the gospel and the Eucharist, accept my prayer with kindness. You who always faced the difficulties of life, without ever straying from the divine will, to which you adhered with constant faith and commitment; now understand the special state of mind in which I find myself and intercede with Our Lord so that He may grant me the grace I so need, let me feel the divine presence, and help me, with your example, to follow His will.

Trusting in your protection, I renew with much faith my intention of gratitude and good will and I confide in your support. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
