Both sides of the abortion debate hold that death and life belong to God: our side trusts in the Providence of God the Creator while the culture of death fashions themselves to be God and therefore believes that they are the final determiners of right and wrong, good and evil. There is a formula to overcome this juggernaut of secularism and self-worship, but the cost is high: the cost is our own selfishness and the call to a deeper conversion. In this episode of the Face of Pro-Life, Corinn and Fr. Angelo discuss the rights of God, the need for penance, and the need for personal conversion as the surest weapon in this the greatest fight of our times.

As it stands today, a vote for the Democratic party is a vote for abortion and all the surrounding sins against life. Among other things in this episode, Joe and Corinn discuss how children have become a commodity and an entitlement in our culture: “We’re entitled to children when we want them, and we’re entitled to kill them when we don’t.”? It cannot be said often enough that the biggest accomplice of the Culture of Death is the media, who saturate our society with sex and then ignore, gloss over, and intentionally misinterpret it’s painful, brutal consequences.

[Update: The 2008 40-Days-for-Life Vigil starts Sept 24 in approximately 300 cities across America, praying outside of abortion clinics 24 hours a day for 40 days ending Nov 2, just prior to the presidential election. www.40daysforlife.com]

Last nite (25th Sept, 2007), Friar Roderic caught up with Corinn Dahm at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Norwich, CT, after the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass had been offered for the launch of the 40 Days for Life Campaign at the Planned Parenthood Abortion Mill in Case St Norwich.

Over the next 40 days there will be a minimum of 2 people at all times praying in front of the Abortion Mill, not only in Norwich, but in 89 cities around the country, to end abortion in America, and these front-line soldiers will also be supported by thousands of other people who will be offering their prayers, sacrifices, and fastings for the success of this endeavor. This is a history making event that will change our country!

We beg you to support our troops with prayers and fastings and to pass this news onto others that may not have heard about it and help save the lives of maybe thousands of unborn babies.

Friar Roderic caught up with Fr Angelo Geiger in front of the Abortion Clinic in Norwich, CT, on the night of the start of the “40 Days for Life” campaign, which is now into Day 11.

We here at AirMaria apologize for not getting this footage up sooner – we have been so busy preparing for the Videotaping and Live-Streaming of the Coredemption Conference in Indiana, preparing for several NCE-FM License Applications, and to top it all off, madly preparing for the Boot Camp at the friary starting on Oct 19th. Whew!!!

Anyways, all these activities end during the same week in October (the 19th) and then our AirMaria crew will receive a manpower boost, with the addition of two Novices to the team, and we will have much more time to devote to keeping up with our postings.

Back in June at the Catholic Family Conference in Anaheim, CA we ran into Eva Muntean from Ignatius Press and she gave us an interview about the Walk for Life West Coast of which she is Co-chair. This is the San Francisco version of the Washington, DC March for Life, but is more interesting because San Francisco is a much more left-wing town and so the pro-abort counter protesters are far more numerous, vociferous and . . . obscene than in DC. Despite all this, the Pro-lifers keep their dignified calm and the numbers keep growing into the tens of thousands. In this video we included many clips from past Walks for Life. See if you can tell the difference between the pro-life protesters and the pro-abortion counter protesters along the side. (Even after we cut out all their obscene gestures it is still easy to tell.) The 2008 DC March for Life will be on Tuesday, Jan 22, the San Francisco Walk for Life was held just last Saturday, Jan 19. Ave Maria!

Excerpts from Archbishop Chaput’s Address to ENDOW
(Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women) on October 17:

“Professor Kmiec argues that there are defensible motives to support Senator Obama. Speaking for myself, I do not know any proportionate reason that could outweigh more than 40 million unborn children killed by abortion and the many millions of women deeply wounded by the loss and regret abortion creates.”

“To suggest – as some Catholics do – that Senator Obama is this year’s ”real” prolife candidate requires a peculiar kind of self-hypnosis, or moral confusion, or worse. To portray the 2008 Democratic Party presidential ticket as the preferred ”prolife” option is to subvert what the word ”prolife” means.”

“And here’s the irony. None of the Catholic arguments advanced in favor of Senator Obama are new. They’ve been around, in one form or another, for more than 25 years. All of them seek to ”get beyond” abortion, or economically reduce the number of abortions, or create a better society where abortion won’t be necessary. All of them involve a misuse of the seamless garment imagery in Catholic social teaching. And all of them, in practice, seek to contextualize, demote and then counterbalance the evil of abortion with other important but less foundational social issues.”

“Meanwhile, the basic human rights violation at the heart of abortion – the intentional destruction of an innocent, developing human life – is wordsmithed away as a terrible crime that just can’t be fixed by the law. I don’t believe that. I think that argument is a fraud. And I don’t think any serious believer can accept that argument without damaging his or her credibility. We still have more than a million abortions a year, and we can’t blame them all on Republican social policies. After all, it was a Democratic president, not a Republican, who vetoed the partial birth abortion ban – twice.”

The truth is that for some Catholics, the abortion issue has never been a comfortable cause. It’s embarrassing. It’s not the kind of social justice they like to talk about. It interferes with their natural political alliances. And because the homicides involved in abortion are ”little murders” – the kind of private, legally protected murders that kill conveniently unseen lives – it’s easy to look the other way.”
