I love You , Lord Jesus, with my whole heart, my whole soul,  and my whole strength; and if you see that I don’t love You as I ought, I desire at least to love You so; and if I don’t desire it sufficiently, I want at least to desire it in this way.

O Jesus, You are the truth of God! Amid the darkness of confused thinking and conflicting ideas, Your light of truth shines bright. Let my judgment never be influenced by the people who disagree with Your standards. Though the world may laugh me to score, I will fear no human judgments, as long as I loyalty follow Your standards in my daily life.

Too often have I been guilty of selfishness, pride, and vanity in my own thoughts and judgments. I looked at external appearances, visible results, and human recognition. You look at the faith, love, and unselfish intentions in our actions. These are the virtues which make my actions holy and make me like You. I hope to follow Your standards from now on.  Amen.

Oh my Lord, how little I have thirsted for perfection! Strongly at first, but now so seldom and so spasmodically! I seem content not to be doing spiritual reading or thorough examinations. All I give is a nodding acquaintance to the realization that I should do better. I speak and think uncharitably, and it gets so that I hardly even notice it.

Oh my King, help me to change! Not in the sense of fretting, but in the sense of really desiring so much to be better. Let the imitation of You, the beauty of Your life, be a burning and shining light that haunts me and gives me no rest until I am like You. And each day, let me drive to bridge that awful gap. My joy shall be in Your promise that when I hunger and thirst enough, I “shall be filled”.
