Mary Vitamin for July 21st

Topic: Prayer makes for a profitable day

Quote:
Father Stefano Manelli, FI
When we entrust everything to our sweet Mother, nothing but profit comes of
it — in virtue, in grace, in love.
Devotion to Our Lady, (Academy of the Immaculate), 103.

Meditation:
Fr. Charles M. Mangan,
A deep interior life is very “practical” because it gives the person a real
clarity and calm when making decisions. Those who pray frequently and desire to
love and serve God above all else are blest with the ability to understand the
most important realities and to choose well with tranquility and peace.
Catechism on Redemptoris Custos, (Eternal Life: 2003), 11. [ q#43]

Resolution:
Persevering with my prayer life not only helps with the problems of today but
will lead to good choices in the future. Today when I say my usual prayers I
will remember that I am laying a path of gold for my future and my family.
Nothing but profit comes from praying to God through Our Lady.

Marian Vow:
The final entry of the Marian Seraphic Pathways, handbook to the MIM, includes
the blessing of Holy Father St. Francis.
And may anyone observing these things be filled in heaven with the blessings of
the most High Father, and on earth be filled with the blessings of the most
beloved Son with the Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, and with all the powers of
heaven and with all the Saints. And I, Brother Francis, least of the brethren,
your servant, as much as I can, confirm for you, inwardly and outwardly, this
most holy blessing. Amen. (SFT).
Marian Seraphic Pathways, #72

I give this resolution to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks be to God for graces received.

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Oct 14, 2022, on the 4th spiritual work of mercy, the duty to give comfort to the afflicted as he continues his series on the works of mercy.

Give comfort to the sorrowful or those suffering pain

Isaiah 40 1 – Comfort, give comfort to my people, says your God. – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/isaiah/40?1

Luke 4 quotes Isaiah 61: 1-2 comfort all who morns, is the mission of Christ – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/isaiah/61?1

Psalm 119: 50 comfort in the promise that he will give us life – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/psalms/119?50

Give comfort by having compassion, not pontificate to them like Job’s friends

Suffering is not necessarily a punishment from God

Ask the Holy Spirit to give the wisdom of what to say to be channels of grace

Golden rule do on to others what we would want them to do to us

2 Cor 1: 3-5 God who comforts gives us the ability to comfort others – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/2corinthians/1?3

God comforts us by giving the Holy Spirit, who is called the comforter

John 14: 26 ff Paraclete – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/john/14?26

Acts 9: 31 – walking in fear and the comfort of the Holy Spirit – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/acts/9?31

God is an encourager and console, not an accuser

Isaiah 49: 13 – rejoice because God has had compassion and has not forgotten us – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/isaiah/49?13

God brings a greater good from all suffering

What is God trying to teach us in our particular suffering? Such insight can give us comfort and strength to amend our lives

The prodigal son is brought back to his father by suffering

Mary is a comforter of the afflicted, making our crosses sweeter, especially of her suffering Son

Isaiah 53: 3 – She was acquainted with suffering, knowing pain –  https://bible.usccb.org/bible/isaiah/53?3

Heb 5: 8 – learned obedience from her suffering https://bible.usccb.org/bible/hebrews/5?8

Heb 4: 15 – Sympathize with our sins but without sin like her Son – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/hebrews/4?15

Genesis 2: 18 – Mary is a helper of Christ as eve was the helper of Adam – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/genesis/2?18

Mary gives strength to carry our cross just as she did for Jesus on the way to Golgatha

She will meet us where we are at.

Fr Joseph Michael gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Apr 22, 2025, where he encourages us to emulate Mary Magdalene’s faith by seeking Jesus daily, trusting His presence even when He feels absent, and sharing the joy of His resurrection.

Father shares a simple message about Saint Mary Magdalene, who, filled with love for Jesus, went to His tomb and found joy when she saw Him risen. He urges us to be like her, always seeking Jesus in our daily lives, even when we feel He’s not there, and to trust in His presence. Father explains that Jesus told Mary not to hold onto Him because His work continues through the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church. He invites us to share the good news of Jesus’ victory over death with everyone we meet, spreading Easter joy.

Ave Maria!

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on May 27, 2025, on how the Holy Spirit, as our advocate, defends, sanctifies, and guides us, fulfilling Jesus’ promise at the Last Supper.

Father reflects on the Gospel of John 16: 6, where, at the Last Supper, Jesus acknowledges the disciples’ grief as he prepares to leave them, promising the Holy Spirit to guide and defend them (John 16: 7). He explains that Jesus’ departure was necessary for the Holy Spirit, the paraclete, to come, acting as our advocate, a term meaning “one who is at one’s side” (Catechism of the Catholic Church in paragraph 692). The Spirit defends believers against the accuser, Satan, who accuses them day and night (Revelation 12: 10), and teaches them all things, recalling Jesus’ words (John 14: 16; John 14: 26). Additionally, the Spirit sanctifies us, making Jesus visible through our actions, and convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16: 8; Catechism of the Catholic Church in paragraph 729). Father emphasizes that the Spirit corrects the world’s backward views, revealing true righteousness and condemning Satan, not the faithful. He cites Pope Leo XIV, who affirmed God’s love and the triumph over evil, underscoring the Spirit’s role as our defender, sanctifier, and guide. Father also notes that Jesus is our advocate with the Father (1 John 2: 1) and Mary, called Advocata Nostra in the Salve Regina, intercedes for us. He urges us to cooperate with Jesus, Mary, and the Holy Spirit to reach our heavenly homeland, seeking Mary’s grace to remain faithful witnesses.
