Msgr. Arthur B. Calkins gives the homily at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, WI on Oct 12 for the second day of the two day Symposium on the Coredemption of Mary 2018 on how Mary is the Mother of Grace because she is the Mother of Jesus and is His companion in bringing about our redemption. Listen as he refers to the miraculous medal to show how we have to ask Mary for graces and how this is verified in scripture at the Wedding Feast at Cana, tying together the entirety of salvation history.

On Christmas Eve (Dec 24, 2019, Tuesday in the Fourth Week of Advent), Fr. Andre comments on the “Benedictus” recounted in today’s Gospel—the prayer-song of Zechariah, John the Baptist’s father.  John the Baptist prepared the way of the Lord by proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins (cf Mk 1:4). What applied then still applies now: in order to prepare for the coming of Our Savior, we must repent and make a good confession of our sins.

Fr Matthias gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Sep 20, 2022, on how we should praise Mary, Jesus’ mother, in light of Luke 8: 19-12, which seems to say otherwise. We must interpret this in the light of the inspired racing of the Chruch. Jesus directed this statement to us, not to his mother, that we should focus on the spiritual virtue of faith and obedience and less on human flesh and blood relationships.

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Dec 31, 2022, on how Mary is Super Mom because she is the Mother of God. He explains that she is the mother of Jesus, who is God, and yet this very biblical and logical conclusion is denied by Protestants. Father covers the many reasons why she is the Mother of God and the significance this has for our relationship with Christ and our redemption, and the resolutions we need to make for the New Year. He relates this to Fr. Payton and how he should have depicted Mary as the Queen in his movie about her.

Ave Maria!

May is almost here, and that means Mary! What special gift are you going to give Our Lady for her special month? Join Dr. Mark Miravalle for one great option.

In this episode, Dr. Mark Miravalle discusses the importance of proclaiming the truth about Mary, the mother of Jesus. He emphasizes that without knowing the full truth about Mary, one cannot fully appreciate and love her. He stresses that proclaiming Mary as the spiritual mother of all people, in her roles as co-redemptrix, mediatrix, and advocate, is crucial in addressing the challenges faced by the Church and the world. He presents seven reasons why:
1) it would bring a historic release of grace;
2) it would complete the Marian dogmas by defining Mary’s relationship with humanity;
3) it would proclaim the redemptive value of human suffering;
4) it would affirm the power and dignity of human freedom;
5) it would highlight the unique role of women and the feminine genius;
6) it would contribute to authentic Catholic ecumenism by clarifying Catholic beliefs about Mary; and
7) it is requested by Our Lady herself in various private revelations.
Dr. Miravalle urges viewers to pray for the proclamation of the fifth Marian dogma, to send petitions to Pope Francis, and to spread awareness about the importance of this dogma. He recommends praying the prayer of the Lady of All Nations and encourages viewers to reach out for prayer cards if needed. The segment concludes with a prayer for the intentions and a call to action to support the fifth Marian dogma.

Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN, on Nov 10, 2023, on how Franciscan Spirituality emphasizes Our Lady’s role in God’s plan, today focusing on how He wants us to come to Jesus through Mary, with Mary and how this foresees much of modern Mariology.

In Franciscan spirituality, finding Jesus through Mary is essential, as no one understands Christ’s mystery as she does. This thought, rooted in St. Bernard of Clairvaux’s teachings, is echoed by Franciscans like St. Bonaventure, who believed Christ is only found through Mary, the universal mediator Luke 1:28 – The angel Gabriel greets Mary, “Hail, full of grace” – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/luke/1?28, Luke 1:42 – Elizabeth calls Mary “blessed among women”, and Luke 1:43 – Elizabeth recognizes Mary as the mother of the Lord – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/luke/1?42.

Franciscans honor Mary for her role alongside Christ, as exemplified in Luke 2:52 – Jesus grew in wisdom and grace under Mary’s care – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/luke/2?52. They entrust spiritual growth to her, mindful of Colossians 1:24 – Completing Christ’s afflictions for the Church – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/colossians/1?24. Emulating Mary’s virtues, Franciscans follow her guidance at Cana: John 2:5 – Do whatever Jesus tells you – https://bible.usccb.org/bible/john/2?5.

In their spiritual journey, Franciscans turn to Mary, believing in her powerful intercession, inspired by saints like Leonard of Port Maurice and Bernadine of Siena. Close to Mary, they seek to mirror Christ more each day.
