On Sunday, 16 June in Lebanon the entire Episcopate of Lebanon, along with their Papal Nuncio and  all the Catholic Patriarchs of the Middle East will gather in Harissa, the National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon to solemnly Consecrate Lebanon and the Middle East to the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary.The Text of the Act of Consecration which will be prayed by all present led by all the Catholic Episcopate of Lebanon and all the Catholic Patriarchs of the Middle East following solemn Holy Mass follows below:All of the Church in Lebanon has been preparing for this great spiritual moment, An Image of Our Lady in the past 40 days has traveled to every Parish in Lebanon. Every Parish in Lebanon will be united with the Mass and Act of Consecration tomorrow in a great union of prayer. Christians in the Lebanon are appealing for Christians around the world to join them in prayer.

Act of Consecration of Lebanon and the Middle East to the Blessed Virgin Mary

Most Holy Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our Mother, You have been chosen by God Our Father, through the action of the Holy Spirit, to become the Mother of His Incarnate Son; You lived perfectly the obedience of faith, united, by your motherhood, to Your Son Jesus, by an indissoluble bond, thus listening to His words, treasuring up all these things and pondering them in Your heart; You accompanied Him throughout His early life in Nazareth, where He was growing in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man; You interceded with Him in Cana of Galilee, You suffered with Him in Your motherly heart on the foot of the Cross and participated in the redemption that He accomplished, He, the only Redeemer of the world, for the sake of the entire humanity in every time and place.

Ave Maria!  I found an interesting and entertaining article this morning about how a Lebanese judge sentenced 3 Muslim men who insulted the Virgin Mary to memorize verses from the Quran praising her and Jesus.  The story went viral and the Lebanese public and government praised the judge.

A Lebanese judge ordered three Muslim young men who insulted Christianity to memorize verses from the Quran’s Al-Omran surah which glorifies Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.

Instead of handing down a prison sentence over their contempt of religion, Joceline Matta ordered the men to memorize the verses to be released.

While reading out the verdict in court in Tripoli, North of Lebanon, last week, Matta noted that her decision aims to teach the young men about Islam’s tolerance and love for Virgin Mary.

“The law is a school and not just a prison,” she said. Prime Minister Saad Hariri commended the move on Twitter and saluted Matta for her decision which reflects justice and teaches mutual concepts between Muslims and Christians.

State Minister for Combating Corruption Nicolas Tueni also praised Matta and said her decision paves way towards innovative judicial approaches that help resolve social problems and religious intolerance.

On the memorial of St. Sharbel (Jul 24), Fr. Alan draws the connection between today’s lack of health and lack of proper Eucharistic piety (cf. 1 Cor 11:29-32). St. Sharbel sacrificed himself, like Christ, and adored Him in the Eucharist, and now has been given enormous power to heal and convert.

Emanuel, MS-ISHM, gives the second homily at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe, La Crosse, WI on Oct 12, 2019, at our Symposium “Mary Coredemptrix: Why the Dogma?” on how John Paul II said we are in the final battle and how we must pray and consecrate ourselves to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, not only as individuals, but also as nations and the world. He refers to the apparitions of Fatima in Portugal and uses the example of the consecration of Lebanon (Br. Emmanuel’s own Country).

This symposium took place at the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe October 11-12, 2019 and had 8 talks, 2 QA sessions, and 2 Homilies. The theme was “Mary Coredemptrix: Why the Dogma?” and included a commemoration of the Marian legacy of Fr. Peter Damian Fehlner. It was sponsored by the Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate in conjunction with Mark Miravalle and the International Marian Association (IMA)
