We can see this mix of intense suffering and intense joy in the lives of the saints, and what brings this joy is that through suffering we are brought closer to Christ Crucified, closer to God. Let us rejoice, and rejoice in the privileged of sharing in the Cross of Christ. Laetare!

Mariology for Everyone #36 ( 32min) Play – Dr. Mark Miravalle on the apparitions of Our Lady to three young children, Lucia, Jacinta, and Francesco in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. He covers the prayers and sacrifices and penance that Mary asks of us for world peace and for the triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This includes praying the rosary, five first Saturdays, and the three secrets of Fatima.

This series is a complete 40 part introductory course on Mary presented by Dr. Miravalle, a theology professor specializing in Mariology, who has been teaching at the Franciscan University of Steubenville for over 25 years. General topics are as follows:

On the 100th anniversary of first Fatima apparition, Father focuses on the message Mary gave the children on today in 1917. Mary asked whether they would be willing to suffer and sacrifice for sinners. While, as Lucia later said, they didn’t quite know what they were getting into, they accepted. They never regretted it, and were heroically faithful to this commitment. Little Jacinta was particularly faithful in offering everything up, and rather creative in finding additional ways to sacrifice for the salvation of poor sinners. Mary told them that many souls go to Hell because there is no one to pray and sacrifice for them, and this sunk deeply into their innocent souls. Mary also told them to be consecrated to Her Immaculate Heart, which would be their refuge in their suffering. Let us to take refuge in Her Immaculate Heart, and offer up many prayers and penances for the conversion of sinners and peace in the world.

Jesus wants us to be with Him more than we want to be with Him, truly a great consolation. He tells us that in His Father house there are many rooms. We are all called to heaven, He is telling us, and since we tend to forget that this is our one great goal throughout life, His Mother has come to us many times to remind us of this fact. Yesterday we celebrated the 100th anniversary of the first visit of Mary to the shepherd children.
Her message gets to the heart of the gospel: the reality of sin, the need for repentance and prayer, the reality of heaven, and the need to walk faithfully along this path. And this path is Jesus: the way, the truth, and the life. Mary guides us along this path, as she guided the three children of Fatima. Two of these were canonized yesterday as examples of Christian perfection and elder siblings we can call upon in our needs.
Mary told the children that many souls go to hell because there is no one to pray and sacrifice for them. These words sunk deep into their hearts, especially Jacinta’s, and they turned prayer and sacrifice into their way of life. These children sought to bring others with them to heaven, most especially sinners.
We are also called to participate in the salvation of sinners by prayer and sacrifice. For prayer, most especially the Rosary and frequenting the Sacraments. For sacrifices, Father emphasizes offering up with a prayer of sacrifice all the many tasks, sufferings, irritations, and inconveniences of daily life, fidelity to our daily duties and state of life, the apostolates of words and example.
If we follow Her leading, Mary will help us get to heaven with many others.Ave Maria!

Man’s cooperation with God in the unfolding mission of redemption in human history is sublimely and supremely evident at Fatima, which bears the imprint of both the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred of Jesus.

The message regarding the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary reveals God’s will for the unique cooperation of Our Lady, the Co-Redemptress with the Redeemer, Our Lord Jesus. The Triumph of Her Immaculate Heart is the means by which God wills to realize the Triumph of Jesus’ Sacred Heart.

By God’s will, all His elect are involved in hierarchical meditation, but most especially the Mother, who brought Him into the world and brings the world to Jesus, Who in turn, as revealed in Scripture, submits all to the Father (Cf. 1 Corinthians 15:28).

Before Our Lady of Fatima appeared to the three shepherd children, they were visited by the Angel of Peace, who prepared them for Our Lady’s visitation. In particular, the angel instructed them in the spirituality of reparation, especially in connection with the offenses against Our Eucharistic Lord. The warnings and promises connected with the Fatima message are closely linked through the angelic apparitions of 1916 to the state of Eucharistic piety in the Church.
