Love does not seek it self interests or advantage

Selfishness is the main roadblock to spiritual growth

counseling then spiritual reflection

Counseling:

many of the modern problems in the world can be attributed to selfishness loss of identity and self worth with growing fear and sense o loss,

We can become very self focused do to basic needs are not met in youth

We need to fins our identity in God and being His adopted children

Focus more on God and then on our neighbor.

Spiritual sense :

Selfish way is to say my way or the high way, but the  real High Way is to let others have their way

Put others first for God will fulfill al our needs

God has put us first so we can do likewise.

God emptied himself taking the form of a slave and obedient onto death on cross for us. phil 2:6-8

acts 20:35 More blessed to give than receive

phil 2:4 look not just at your own interest but to others as well

1 cor 10:34 seek the good of others

Happiness comes from helping others

Love seeks its beloved not itself

They all point to how God has a huge heart for problem children and has more joy in finding that one sheep than in the 99 that remained. For such sheep, like us, he was willing to die for his sheep. God rejoices to the same degree as it cost him on the cross.

JPII 1979 homily imitates the good shepherd need spiritual charity to save souls. This is our primary mission, the salt of the Church.
