After 1.5 years, we now continue the series “A Tour of The Catechism of The Catholic Church” by Fr. Daniel Mahan of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Bloomington, Indiana. In mid 2014 we finished parts 1 and 2 of the Catechism and now we aim to finish parts 3 and 4. So little by little we’ll upload a video or two.

Fr. Mahan on the Canticle of Mary called the Magnificat and how this song helps us to prepare for Advent and Christmas. It is the song that Mary sings (Luke 1:46-55) when Elizabeth tells her the infant John the Baptist leaped in her womb when he heard Mary’s voice. The Holy Spirit filled Elizabeth and

on he is given back his voice after his son John the Baptist is born in his old age.

This is the third talk of Fr. Mahan for the Advent Day of Reflection “Entering into the Mystery of the Incarnation with St. Luke” by reflecting on the three Gospel Canticles all found in the Gospel of Luke which itself provides so many details on the coming of Christ and His early life. As such, they provide a great preparation for Advent and Christmas. The day of reflection took place at the Mother of Redeemer Retreat Center in Bloomington, IN, on December 1, 2018.

We went to St John the Apostle’s Church in Bloomington for the Easter Vigil Mass last night. They record their Sunday masses so we linked to their video for the homily. The below link is to the video at the point the homily begins at 42:30, but you can watch the whole mass if you want, which was very beautiful. Kudos to Abigail and Logan for the recording.
