Station VIII:  Jesus meets the weeping women

The women wept to see Jesus endure so much suffering, yet He advised them to weep for their children instead of Him.  Like the women, we ignore the consequence of our own sins, and deny our lack of virtue and charity towards others including our own children, for whom we often weep and pray. 

O Jesus, place deeply in our hearts feelings that lead to our sanctification and the sanctification of our loved ones and those in most need of our prayers.  “Do not spurn us, for Your name’s sake; do not dishonor Your glorious throne; remember and do not break Your covenant with us… (Jer 14:21)  As you granted mercy to the exiles of Judah, grant us Your mercy now.  “I will give them a heart to know that I am the Lord; and they shall be my people; and I will be their God, for they shall return to me with their whole heart. (Jer 24:7)

After each Station, pray “Jesus, Son of the living God, have mercy on me, a sinner.  Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to Thee”.
