Father covers the whole chapter, and observes that many disciples left after this teaching (Father notes this verse is John 6:66), and many Christians still refuse to accept this teaching and its implications for our moral lives. Let us receive this hard teaching of Jesus with faith, saying with Peter, “Master, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

Catechesis for Marian Consecration: Holy Heroes Helps Families Grow Closer to Mary.

When the Matt and Heather Ryan family in Texas wanted to have their children do a consecration to Mary, they looked to Holy Heroes, an apostolate that teaches children about the faith through family activities and catechetical series (HolyHeroes.com), revolving around daily downloadable prayers and video presentations.When the Ferreira family in North Carolina was looking to do the same, they, too, looked to Holy Heroes and its brand-new “Marian Consecration Family Adventure.”More than 3,400 families and even some schools signed up for the 33-day series that began Sept. 30 and ended Nov. 1. The next series begins Nov. 6.

In the homily for the memorial of St. Conrad of Piacenza (Third Order Franciscan, hermit, Feb 19) Fr. Matthias draws out a moral lesson relating to a line from the first reading: “The LORD saw how great was man’s wickedness on earth, and how no desire that his heart conceived was ever anything but evil.” God prohibits and holds us responsible not only for our actions, but even for our thoughts – whether good or bad – because all evils have their beginning in the human heart. Therefore we must acquire the virtue of purity in thought.

On the memorial of St. Boniface (Martyr, Bishop, Religious Missionary, Jun 05, 2019), Fr Matthias gives the homily on how St. Boniface’s missionary genius serves as a metaphor for our spiritual and ecclesial life.  St. Boniface courageously toppled the pagan idols of those living in darkness, to liberate them from their cults of false religion and superstition.

We who are “consecrated in truth” (cf. Jn 17:19) can sometimes be dominated by lies. It is a great blessing when these lies are brought down, even forcibly. Only then can we experience the fullness of the joy or our Christian consecration.

In the homily for the memorial of St. Gregory the Great (Pope, Sept 3, 2019), Fr. Andre offers a catechesis on adult obligations toward youth, especially that of parents and ministers. Primarily they must arm youth with the truth about worthy Communion, received in awareness about the “last things” and the real dangers of sin and sacrilegious Communion—danger to their immortal soul; they must direct them to sacramental Confession, where they will experience the “baptism of fire” in the Holy Spirit, as preparation for receiving Holy Communion. Adults, especially ministers, must also teach youth about the critical importance of walking with Mary, the Mother of God, in their journey toward holiness and eternal life.

Calkins, gives the fifth talk titled “Causa Mariæ Advocatæ: The Marian Issue in the Church Today” at our Symposium “Mary Coredemptrix: Why the Dogma?” where he refers to the article by Fr. Peter Fehlner in the book “Mary, Unique Cooperator in the Redemption” and explains how Mary is united to Jesus in His work of redeeming the world. He mentions that Genesis 3 :15 is the central verse in the Bible where Mary would undo what Eve had done in the first sin in the Garden of Eden.

The Life of St. Mary Frances of the Five Wounds, Virgin, Second Order (1715-1791) for the Franciscan Saint of the Day for Oct 6. St. Mary Frances of the Five Wounds was born in Naples, Italy and grew to be a very pious girl. She entered the Third order and had much to suffer from her family and confessor who did not understand her spiritual gifts. She found great consolation and entered deep prayer through her devotion to the five wounds of Christ and was given the gift of prophecy, foreseeing the French Revolution.

Reflection is on Christian Doctrine and the importance of catechesis.
