Bonaventure preaches on the connection between Mary’s prerogatives to the Kingship of Christ and so relates her dignity to his, her Queenship to his Kingship , His Ascension to to her Assumption. All granted by one and the same decree of predestination revealed by Paul in Eph 1:3-10. This is exemplified at the Epiphany which is one of the great miraculous manifestations of Christ’s coming when the three Magi are guided by the star in faith to come to Bethlehem to adore the newborn King and take this good news to their homelands beyond Judea to the gentiles. Father highlights the great faith needed on their part to make this great, difficult and dangerous journey, to adore this humble child laid in a manger and how much we need to embrace that same faith today when there is so much despair regarding God’s presence and His willingness to bless us.

Peter Baptist, Paul Miki, and companions (martyrs, Feb 06) Father points to these martyrs of Japan as an example of how we are called to respond with perseverance in faith in times of persecution, such as we are beginning to face even in our day. God wills our salvation and will give us the faith we need if we humbly ask Him for it.
