Matthias answers another question tonight, “What is at stake?” Recalling the third apparition of Our Lady at Fatima, he quotes the words of Mary to the children: “Sacrifice yourselves for sinners, and say many times, especially whenever you make some sacrifice: ‘O Jesus, it is for love of You, for the conversion of sinners, and in reparation for the sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary’ … You have seen Hell where the souls of poor sinners go. To save them, God wishes to establish in the world devotion to My Immaculate Heart. If what I say to you is done, many souls will be saved and there will be peace.” Let us give Ourselves entirely to Our Lady, and ask Our Lady at this time, “Make me a saint.”

Month of Mary #3 ( 09min) Play – Jesus is our joy, our salvation, and redemption. Like St Louis de Montfort, we need to be grateful for the news of Jesus and Mary, and be passionate for spreading it. Even though he died, worn out from his apostolic labors, at 43, his influence reaches even to St. John Paul II, who said “You know that I owe much to this saint, and to his True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin,” and from whom he took his motto, “Totus tuus.” We have heard of the need for Marian Consecration, but we must also realize it is not just another devotion, but a life to be lived, one of zeal, desire for sanctity, and generosity. Finally he gives us this quote from St. Louis de Montfort: “We never give more honor to Jesus than when we honor his Mother, and we honor her simply and solely to honor him all the more perfectly. We go to her only as a way leading to the goal we seek – Jesus, her Son.”
Prayer for the day: Come Holy Spirit, living in Mary, help me to make this retreat with generosity and zeal.

Month of Mary #5 ( 00min) Play – St. Louis’ Marian Consecration has two key elements. Fr. Joachim focuses on the first this evening. He reminds us of our baptismal promises to reject Satan, his works, and his pomps. But we often fail to live this. As a remedy, we may renew these vows, but also renew them in the hands of Mary. God has put enmity between Satan and Mary, She is the one who crushed Satan’s head, and She can do it again in our own lives.

Today’s Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit, living in Mary. Give me the grace to reject Satan and follow Christ more closely.

Month of Mary #8 ( 06min) Play – Yesterday, Father told us that we need not fear giving Mary the right to do with our prayers as She pleases, for She knows better than us what to do with them, and She will not be outdone in generosity. Today, we turn our attention towards our own merits and satisfactions. If we give Mary all our merits, won’t we end up empty-handed before God? Yes, we won’t have our merits, but we will have Mary’s. What about our satisfactions, won’t we be in purgatory for a long time? Once again, will She be outdone in generosity? Will She forget those who abandon themselves to Her? Let us stop thinking of ourselves, but strive to love God and give Him as much glory as possible!

Today’s Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit, living in Mary. Help me to give great glory to God by giving all I have to Mary.

Month of Mary #9 ( 08min) Play -We learn today that Marian Consecration is the quick, easy, and secure way to sanctity. Does that mean life will be easier? No, in fact, you’ll likely have more crosses (remember, She is looking for generous souls), but you will have Her with you. The Cross is our way to Heaven, and She will guide you, direct you, and give you the graces you couldn’t have had on your own. Holiness is dying to ourselves, which is never easy, but if we are consecrated to Mary we will be lead, helped and protected.

Today’s Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit, living in Mary. Help me to praise you for such a quick, easy, and secure path to holiness.

Month of Mary #10 ( 16min) Play -Tonight we move from St. Louis de Montfort to St. Maximilian Kolbe. Father gives us an introduction to the life of the Saint, from his childhood when Our Lady appeared to him and offered him a white crown (purity) and a red crown (martyrdom), up to his “Martyrdom of Charity,” when took another man’s place in a Nazi starvation bunker*. St. Maximilian’s particular trait was his burning desire to do the will of God and to offer himself completely to whatever God’s will desired.

Today’s Prayer: Come, Holy Spirit, Living in Mary. Make me pure in body and spirit and help me to die to myself.

*It was Franciszek Gajowniczek, whose last public event before his death in 1995 was right here at Our Lady’s Chapel.
