Putting God first is a problem for mankind right now. We live in an era that allows “Earth Day”, an environmental “holiday” to fall and be “celebrated” on the solemn occasion of Good Friday, the very commemoration of the crucifixion of Our Lord. Ecology over the Crucifixion?!Many Christians were likely drawn into celebrating “mother earth” last Friday, rather than commiserating with their heavenly mother, perhaps by fasting, praying and contemplating our Lord’s Passion. Stewardship and conservation can be worthy goals… but on Good Friday?! No major, secular, cultural affairs should be set for that day. If Christians put God first each and every day, the secular world would think twice before doing something so callous.
