Though I remember the EF from pre-Vatican II days, I do not recall – nor do I understand – the posture of coped servers sitting on steps, with their backs to the celebrant. Can someone explain it… and whatever sense of dignity and beauty it is supposed to bring to the liturgy. To be perfectly honest, it looks like they ran out of seats.
