Fr Terrance gives the homily at Bloomington, IN on Feb 08, 2020, on how King Solomon in 1 kings 3:5 asks for wisdom and how God is very willing to give gifts that are good for our souls and which bring us closer to Him. However, just because He gives us a gift does not mean we can’t lose it through misuse as Solomon did. Father contrasts this with the life of St Therese who focused on the love of God in her little way in holy poverty.

Fr Terrance gives the first homily for the Women’s Retreat on St Therese and he Little Way at Bloomington, IN on Feb 07, 2020 (about two weeks ago) on how King David and Herod were so different in that one practiced holiness and one vice. David lived a life in search of God and his will and even wrote many of the psalms in the Old Testament scriptures. He relied on God for his strength. Herod Antipas the son of Herod the Great relied on himself. Therese lived her little way, becoming a child of God. This underscores the difference between being self-sufficient and God-sufficient. If we are self-sufficient then we will be God-deficient.

Fr Terrance gives the final homily for the Women’s Retreat on St Therese at Bloomington, IN on Feb 09, 2020, on how we are to be the light of the world because Jesus is the light and we who are His share His light. We should be in the world but not of the world. This means looking out for others and forgeting about ourselves. Do good and avoid evil. Avoid accusing others, pointing fingers, avoid a victim mentality. Be controlled by God not by our passions. This includes not placing others, including ourselves, in the position of God in our lives. We should offer up our sufferings in union with Christ’s sufferings to unite ourselves with Christ and be a light with Him. This is summarized in the teaching of St Therese in her little way which centers on the knowledge of self and of God and complete trust in and love of God.
